MLB all-star voting is live, which Phillies should make it to the All-Star Game?

Last season, the Phillies had just one all-star, Pat Neshek. This was before Neshek got traded of course. Now just in case, you didn’t know, every team in the league is given one all-star representative. However, the goal for Phillies fans should be to get as many Phillies’ players in the 2018 MLB all-star game as possible! Here is the list of Phillies’ players on the official all-star ballot:

Catcher – Jorge Alfaro

First Base – Carlos Santana

Second Base – Cesar Hernandez

Third Base – Maikel Franco

Shortstop – Scott Kingery

Left Field – Rhys Hoskins

Center Field – Odebul Herrera

Right Field – Aaron Altherr

Now, these are just the guys on the official ballot, there is a spot where you can write in a name. Maybe Nick Williams? He is the best pinch hitter in baseball this season, but is that enough to send him to the 2018 MLB all-star game? I don’t think so, however that is up to you, the fans.

Phillies’ all-star game locks

I think we can all sit back and not worry that both Jake Arrieta and Aaron Nola will both be in Washington for the all-star game. This is because both Arrieta and Nola have been outstanding this season and have earned a spot on the roster. Arrieta is 5-2 with a 2.16 ERA this season in 10 starts, and Nola is 7-2 with a 2.18 ERA in 12 starts this season.

These two guys should without a doubt be locks as all-stars.

What does a perfect 2018 MLB all-star game look like?

To me, a perfect 2018 all-star game would include Arrieta, Nola, Herrera, and Seranthony Dominguez. Before you say anything, yes I would love to see just the entire Phillies’ starting nine out there, but come on. We all know that not everyone on the Phillies roster seems to be deserving of a spot.

With that being said, let me explain why having these four guys as all-stars would result in a perfect game for me. As I said earlier, both Nola and Arrieta are locks to be there. This by itself makes 2018 better than 2017 because now there are two Phillies players in the game. Now let’s look at Herrera, Herrera has played like an early season MVP candidate. The center fielder is slashing .313/.377/.485 that equals a .862 OPS which is above the league average. This is without mentioning his impressive streak of reaching base to start this season, which ended at 45 straight games. As a result of these numbers, I think he is well deserving of an all-star game appearance.

Seranthony Dominguez deserves to be there

Finally, Dominguez could be an all-star. Dominguez has not been in the big leagues long, actually, he hasn’t even been in the league for a cup of coffee yet as he has appeared in just 11 games.

As you can see from these tweets, his numbers are off the charts! These numbers are something that I have never seen before in a rookies’ first hand full of games. You may be sitting there asking yourself why should he be an all-star after just 11 appearances? Well, think about how dominant this guy has been. Is it really crazy to think that this is something that he can’t keep up to an extent? Listen, I’m not gonna sit here and try to convince you that he will have a 0.00 ERA this entire season because I’m not psychotic. However, he has allowed just three base runners to 43 of the batters he has faced. The reason behind this is because his stuff is flat out filthy. How fun would he be to see him square up and dominate against the game’s best players?

There is only one thing left to do

I’ve done everything that I can do here. I’ve told you who I think are locks to make the game from the Phillies, and I’ve told you two guys who I think should make it. Now it is up to you, the fans. See we have a job to do, that job is to vote. We have the power to vote for who we want to see in this game. Therefore, vote as much as you can!

If you are wondering how to vote, all you have to do is go to or and click on the vote tab. Then all you have to do is select who you want to vote for and hit submit. You are allowed to vote up to five times in a 24 hour period. Make sure you use all five! The 2018 MLB all-star game will be played in Washington D.C. on July 17th, and we want to see as many Phillies’ players there as possible!
