Bama hard-hitting linebacker Mack Wilson
The Eagles will be in play for a linebacker next month during the draft. The team lost Jordan Hicks to free agency and while the team did sign L.J. Fort they can certainly use some depth. Alabama hard-hitting linebacker Mack Wilson would fit exactly what the Eagles want and need at the linebacker position.
Anchoring the Tide’s defense
Wilson spent three seasons in Tuscolusa finishing his career with 119 tackles with six interceptions and one sack.
The Alabama native helped lead the tide back to the national title game for the second year in a row. He totaled 71 tackles and added two interceptions. An instinctive hard-hitting linebacker that flies from sideline to sideline Wilson as a result, did it all for the tide. Known as one of the better coverage linebackers in College Football he was named a semifinalist for the Butkus award. Furthermore, Wilson would finish second-team All-SEC in 2018.
What can Mack bring to Philly?
As of now if drafted Wilson would have the chance to be a day one starter. Behind Nigel Bradham, there isn’t a ton of depth. Fort is a very stable linebacker who came over from the Steelers. However the team also still has young linebackers in Nathan Gerry and Kamu Grugier-Hill. However, by adding Wilson to the team, they gain a hard-hitting instinctive linebacker who can play all three downs.
I believe Mack can find a home in Philly. Viewed as a second-round draft pick and with the Eagles possessing two second-round picks he’s certainly in play. However, the biggest concerns for Wilson will be whether he can be consistent and show growth in his game.
Win win for the Birds
The Eagles have a ton of flexibility in this draft. They can choose any position in the first round and are in a position to draft the best player available. Wilson would bring a physical presence to the team as well as, coverage skills for a linebacker which are critical. While Wilson has been in talks because of his social media use he’s never been in trouble nor posted anything negative. Would you like to see Wilson in midnight green let us know below?
