Brotherly Love: The Perfect Example Set By Brandon Brooks

The City of Brotherly Love

Philadelphia is the City of Brotherly Love. Our sports teams typically do their best to embody that mindset. The 2017-18 Philadelphia Eagles were the perfect example. One of the primary reasons the team was able to overcome so much adversity was their commitment to one another. Their “we all we got, we all we need” team motto shows their allegiance to their teammates and the city. It was obvious these guys were genuinely having fun all year, and truly loved each other like family.

The Restructure Of Brandon Brooks’s Contract

Field Yates reported today that Brandon Brooks restructured his contract to clear cap room and free money for other players. The Eagles freed up $6.37M in cap space dropping his cap hit to $4.768M. Brooks will get paid $4M now and another $4M by September 1st. Brooks said he will also get paid “a couple hundred thousand over the season.”

What This Means, According To Brooks

Brandon Brooks then followed up the report by explaining the details of his contract. He explained on Twitter the timeline of his paychecks as well as his reasoning behind reworking his contract.

On Friday, reports announced that the Eagles restructured quarterback Nick Foles’s contract, getting a $2M increase in his salary and a slew of other incentives if he plays. According to the NFL Network, Foles can potentially earn up to $23M in incentives. There is also an option for the 2019 season. You can read the breakdown of the contract by clicking here.

According to Brandon Brooks, the reason he restructured his contract is so Nick Foles could make more money because he deserves it as the reigning Super Bowl MVP.  This is a true testament to the culture of the Philadelphia Eagles, and if that doesn’t say “Brotherly Love” then I’m not sure what does.

Brooks also followed up his tweet, showing his allegiance to the city of Philadelphia, that he was not aware that #WhateverItTakes was the Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff hashtag. Brooks made sure Philadelphia fans knew he is in full support of the City of Brotherly Love.
