As the Philadelphia Eagles work their way through the offseason one thing has been refreshing. A fully healthy Carson Wentz. Now last year Wentz was working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in December. He returned in week three of the season. But then struggled with a back injury that ultimately ended his season early. Now fully healthy is Wentz ready for an MVP run.
Looking good in OTAs
With a full offseason under his belt, the results are showing. So far through OTAs Wentz and DeSean Jackson have been in rhythm and developing a dangerous connection.
Along with that Wentz has shed the knee brace he was wearing last year and expects to play this season without it. It’s so critical to spend this part of the year developing that chemistry with the skill players. Knowing where they want the ball, where they will be on routes etc. With guys like Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and more the air attack could be as dangerous as ever.
Riddick’s vote of confidence
ESPN’s Louis Riddick is all aboard the Wentz wagon. Earlier this week he stated that he has Wentz as the 2019 MVP.
Now Riddick is two for two in that he predicted Jared Goff’s breakout season in 2017 and then Patrick Mahomes last season. If Wentz is able to play all 16 games there’s no reason why Riddick’s prediction won’t come true.
Wentz ready to be MVP
In 2017 Wentz set the league on fire. The North Dakota State alum through 13 games had 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. However, he lost out on MVP after suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Last year at less than 100% Wentz totaled 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions with a bad back. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
Now true it’s only OTAs but its great to see Wentz firing on all cylinders. The Eagles have done an excellent job of surrounding him with the right tools. Stabilizing the offensive line, adding to the run game and adding a deep threat receiver. Is the MVP race Wentz’s to lose? Let us know below.
