Defending champs ready to roll on opening night
Eagles fans this is the night we’ve all been waiting for. These last seven months have been the best knowing that we are the top dogs. But the defending champs know that it’s time to refocus. The Atlanta Falcons come to Philadelphia tonight with revenge on their minds.

The Falcons left Philadelphia on the wrong end of a 15-10 game back in January. Nick Foles will be under center for the Eagles as Wentz still is not ready. With the banner dropping and Eagles football back it’s going to be an exciting night.
Believe in Foles
Foles will be under center tonight and most likely will be for the next few games as well. In his career, Foles is 2-0 in season-opening games. In 2014 he led the Eagles to a 34-17 over the Jacksonville Jaguars and then in 2015 led the then St.Louis Rams to a 34-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
While the Eagles will be missing a lot of key guys tonight that is nothing new. We know Alshon Jeffery, Tim Jernigan, and Mack Hollins are out. We also know that Nigel Bradham will serve a one-game suspension tonight. There are missing pieces but as Jason Kelce said “Hungry Dogs run faster” and tonight these dogs will be ready.
Keys to the game
The Home crowd will ultimately be the great equalizer. The Eagles are 11-1 in their last 12 games at home including the playoffs. Back in January when these two teams played the Eagles defense smothered the Falcons attack. The Eagles held Atlanta to just 281 yards of total offense.
The Falcons also failed to score in the second half. While the Eagles did turn the ball over twice they were able to make plays when needed. The dynamic duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman combined for just 86 rushing yards. True Bradham being out tonight will be a tough blow but the rest of this Eagles defense is ready for the challenge.
On offense, while Jay Ajayi is expected to be ready to go somebody who has flown under the radar is Darren Sproles. Especially in the passing game expect Sproles to play a key role tonight in the passing game. Also expect more Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and Mike Wallace.
Who wins tonight?
Now we saw last year in the opener the Kansas City Chiefs make a statement in Foxboro as they beat the Patriots 42-27 on opening night. While it was shocking that night the Patriots ended up in the Super Bowl. Tonight will be fun.

The banner will drop, Pregame tailgates and performances and of course Eagles football. Now should the Eagles lose its not the end of the world. There will be 15 games remaining and time to bounce back. With that said I expect a low scoring defensive battle with the defending champs edging it out 20-16.
Jessi and Troy made predictions for tonight’s game as well and their scores are below
Jessi: Eagles 31-27
Troy: Eagles 21-17
