Eagles season fades away in New Orleans
First off I wanna say this Eagles season had a little bit of everything. From the highs to the lows it was fun from opening night until the last snap. The Eagles went down swinging as the Saints just made a few more plays in a 20-14 battle. This team has nothing to be ashamed of in my eyes. Furthermore, let’s hope next year the Birds are back playing on the games biggest stage.
Fast start slow finish
Nick Foles and company came out guns ablaze in the first quarter. On the games first play Cre’Von Leblanc intercepted Drew Brees and the Birds were on their way. Seven plays later Foles connected with Jordan Matthews on a beautiful 37 yard over the shoulder touchdown to go ahead 7-0.
Following a Saints three and out Foles would score again on a one-yard touchdown run to put the Eagles ahead 14-0 Unfortunately that would be all the offense the Eagles would muster on this day.
Marshon Lattimore had his fingerprints all over this game. His first-quarter interception breathed life into the Dome. Followed up by a fourth-down conversion by Taysom Hill on a fake punt and the momentum had shifted. The Eagles led at Halftime 14-10 but the Saints used an 18 play 11:29-minute drive to take a 17-14 lead. A similar situation as last week trailing by six late in the fourth Foles had the Eagles on the move until a pass slipped through Alshon Jeffery’s hands and into the waiting arms of Lattimore sealing the deal.
A tough way to go out but this team never backed down.
We almost certainly saw the last game of Foles Eagles career. If that was the case I have to thank him for the magical run he made. A great human being and teammate Foles is as classy as they come. For Jeffery better days will certainly be ahead. He has given Philly a true number one target and he will continue to make big plays.
As for the offseason, let’s hope first and foremost that Carson Wentz gets back to 100%. Also, Brandon Brooks as he suffered a torn Achilles.
Fly Eagles Fly
This Eagles season didn’t end the way we wanted but hey it was fun. From the gut-wrenching losses to Carolina and Tennesse to winning three straight and having Kirk Cousins blow it against the Bears. Furthermore, add in a double doink and this season was as wild as it gets. While we will have a new Super Bowl champion but best believe the Birds will be back.
