Mike Groh Will Be Named New Offensive Coordinator Of The Eagles

The Eagles’ search for a new offensive coordinator did not take long. The preached about the team staying in-house to find the answer. On Tuesday the Eagles officially named wide receiver coach Mike Groh the team’s new offensive coordinator.

It has been a busy week so far in Philadelphia, as the Eagles work to fill coaching vacancies. With the loss of John DeFilippo and Frank Reich, the birds had some coaching decisions to make.


Eagle Said They Would Stay In-House For Offensive Coordinator Position

In addition to the Groh hire. The team also announced that assistant quarterback coach Press Taylor would replace John Defililipo as the team’s quarterback coach.

These moves come a day after the team announced that running backs coach Duce Staley and Groh were interviewing for the offensive coordinator job.


Staley will remain the team’s running back coach. With these moves, the Eagles have now filled all their coaching vacancies.

Who Is Mike Groh?

Mike Groh steps in as the new offensive coordinator and although head coach Doug Pederson calls the plays Groh could still have a significant impact. Groh is a highly respected wide receiver coach. Groh played a part in the Eagles luring Alshon Jeffery to Philadelphia.

He also deserves credit for helping Nelson Agholor turn around his career. In his first season as a coach, Agholor produced 62 catches for 768 yards and eight touchdowns.

All In the Family

Groh has worked wonders for this Eagles wide receiving corps. You can also add in the improvement and development of receivers like Marcus Johnson and Mack Hollins. Groh also played quarterback at the University of Virginia.


Having played quarterback Groh knows how both groups think and he’s had a great impact on Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. On broken plays, the receivers the Eagles had a lot of success due to that communication developed between the quarterbacks and wide receivers.

The Upcoming 2017-2018 Regular Season

With Carson Wentz expected to be back and an already talented offense. Groh is in a high position to succeed. A head coaching job could be in his future down the road.
