Lets phight Friday: 2018 Phillies the real deal?
First of all, are the Phillies in 2018 the real deal? The Phillies are 121 games into the MLB season the Phillies are currently 67-54 and have surpassed there 2017 record of 66-96. As a result, the Phillies are only a game and a half behind the Atlanta Braves for first place in the NL East.

Hence, soak that in for a second… Who would have thought the 2018 Phillies would be in contention! Let alone in playoff contention.
Furthermore, let’s get down to it! Are the 2018 Phillies the real deal? Lets phight about it.
Firstly, the 2018 Phillies pitching staff has truly carried this team into contention. Especially, with the signing of the 2015 Cy Young award winner Jake Arrieta and brilliance of Cy Young candidate Aaron Nola, the Phillies looked to have on of the best one/two punch at the top of there rotation in all of the major leagues.

Subsequently, Phillies starting and relief pitching has been on fire as of late keeping the Phillies in the NL East race. Thus providing an exciting atmosphere at Citizens Bank Park which we haven’t had in a long time.
Phillies pitching since July 1:
Bullpen 2.70 ERA — Best in majors
Starters 3.26 ERA — Third-best in majors

Therefore, as long as the pitching holds up it gives the Phillies a true shot at winning the NL East for the first time in seven years.
Wilson Ramos trade paying off huge already. He already has six hits, four of which extra base hits, four RBI's, and he has already caught almost every arm in the bullpen in two games played with the #Phillies

Overal the Phillies are 20th in batting. Incidentally, with the powerful sophomore season of Rhys Hoskins and other young players starting to find their groove, the Phillies are looking better with more plate appearances.
Are the Phillies the real deal?
According to the Nick Swisher, “It’s the Phillies time now to do damage!” Maybe we should slow done just a bit. The Phillies have exceeded expectations in every way. Predictions put the Phillies as a mear .500 team at best.
Most likely, this is a team built for the future and built to win for the next several years to come. So, are the Phillies the real deal in 2018? Certainly, but will they win a world series? Well, I’m not sure, anything is possible in the world of baseball. In the meantime, will have to sit back watch our fightin Phils continue to grind and keep fighting the Philly way.
