Nate Sudfeld continues strong play in New England

Sudfeld continues to impress vs Patriots

It was a rough night in New England for the defending champs. The Patriots got their measure of revenge defeating the Eagles 37-20. Tom Brady shockingly played the entire first half throwing two touchdowns in the process. While there weren’t a lot of positives for the Eagles one player who stood out was Nate Sudfeld. Sudfeld continues to impress and is starting to turn heads.

Quarterback controversy?

While Sudfeld barring a miracle wont be starting week one he has positioned himself to be a quality backup in the league. Should the team move on from Nick Foles Sudfeld has showed he has what it takes. The former Indiana Hoosier has developed a great connection with Dallas Goedert and Shelton Gibson. As a result for the second week in a row, Gibson and Sudfeld were able to connect on a touchdown.

Sudfeld finished the night 22-39 for 312 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Foles played into the second quarter but could not guide the team to any points and ultimately left with an arm injury. As a result, Sudfeld came in and caught fire playing late into the fourth quarter. While it was expected that Christian Hackenberg would play he did not see any playing time.

Birds heading to Cleveland

The Eagles will travel to The Land next Thursday in a nationally televised game vs the Browns. If Foles is unable to play Sudfeld would start and get some valuable reps with the first team offense.

Somebody is always watching and if Sudfeld can keep his strong play going the Eagles may receive calls from other teams. Sudfeld could certainly push for a backup job or potentially a starting role somewhere else if he continues his strong play.

Rating the performance

If I were to rate Sudfelds performance id give him an A-. He did throw one interception but overall was very impressive. Showcasing touch passes as he hooked up with Gibson on a deep ball and touchdown. He also connected with Richard Rodgers on a beautiful touchdown pass.

The Eagles definitely have something to work with in Sudfeld. Finally, through two games Sudfeld is 32 of 53 for 454 yards five touchdowns and three interceptions.
