Eagles add pro bowl running back,
While Philadelphia fans were still celebrating a Phillies win, watching the Sixers game or even enjoying March Madness Howie Roseman struck gold. Now it had been reported all offseason that Howard to the Eagles was a very real possibility. But as the offseason progressed nothing seemed imminent. However that all changed last night as the Eagles acquired the Bears running back in exchange for a 6th round pick that can turn into a 5th. The Eagles offense just got that much better.
What Howard brings to the Eagles offense
Howard spent three seasons in Chicago helping them reach the playoffs last season going 12-4. In a year that saw Howard losing playing time to Tarik Cohen, the former Indiana Hosier still totaled 935 yards and nine touchdowns. A down year for him that still produces like that ill take any day of the week.
Since 2016 Howard ranks third in rushing yards behind only Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurle. He also has 24 rushing touchdowns which
Just what the Eagles offense needed
Howard provides the Eagles with exactly what they need. A bruiser who can get those tough yards. Furthermore, Howard has only missed one game in his career and that was the 2016 season opener. A durable back is what the Eagles lacked as when last season when Ajayi went down that pretty much ended the Eagles run game. While Howard fell out of favor in Chicago for whatever reason as they say one mans trash is another man’s treasure.
The Bears did have the ideal two-back set, however. Howard as the bruiser and Cohen as the receiving and play-making back. Now that the Eagles have Howard they can use the draft to find their play-making back. In three career games against the Eagles Howard has totaled 20 carries for 63 yards.
Howie strikes again
The Eagles have done a phenomenal job this offseason. Carson Wentz now has a plethor of weapons at his disposal. From Zach Ertz to Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson if Wentz plays a full season the Eagles offense could be historically good.
